What is the most important concept you want your players to learn? My teams game topic is about the BP oil spill and how hard it was to clean the mess up.We want the players to learn that it is difficult for even thousands of people to clean up an ocean and it can effect many peoples lifestyles.

• Making Decisions as a Team: How did your individual ideas from "Imagining Your Game" come together for your team game topic? How did your team decide the topic? We can do a decision to make this topic because we had the same game idea and we could make it a good game that teaches you that it is fun to play.

Please each talk about your specific roles, and how you work together.I am going to be the artist because i love to draw and design things and Beto will be the programmer because he is very good with all that technical stuff and Miguel will be the another artist so we know we will not mess up and we will know what we are doing.

The actions that the player is going to swim down to the pipeline and use his/her tools to fix it.We have changed it from our first idea because it was too boring at first.

imagining your game

I am writing my game for people who are between 10 and 17 years old. The person who plays my game must be able to have good fast coordination. Since my topic is oil spills the player must already know about oceans. My players will learn about the details of my topic, such as to react fast to an oil spill. The environment for my game will look like oceans. This setting will add to the learning of my game by teaching them skills. The environment of my game will help the player learn by teaching them about the ocean. The player will need to use their knowledge of oceans in order to clean up the oil. A game is a better way of understanding my topic than a quiz because a quiz is so boring and my game is very fun. 

Reflect on Your Game Idea

I am designing my game for kids in 6th through 9th grade.The player will learn that when an oil spill occurs it is very hard for people to clean up the ocean.The world in my game will be like our world but close to the gulf coast like the oil spill that occurred.The setting will add to the learning experience because it will show them were an oil spill occurs.The player learns that oil spreads fast and oil can burn so they can set it on fire but they have to be careful because the fish.My game is better than a quiz because quizzes are boring and long and while playing my game the players will learn but at the same time they will have fun while they are doing it.

Tempest in Crescent City

      When i played this game i felt like i was in the actual game watching the girl go from house to house going into dirty water to save people.I learned that it is very hard for the people that went through hurricane Katrina and it was very shocking to watch the movie.I wish hurricane Katrina never happened because it affected a lot of people and it was terrifying to watch.This game gave me an idea of how the people reacted during this disaster.
      In the game when you have to chop holes in the roof.You have to do this in the game because in real life when the actual hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans the people were stuck in their attics and the people had to chop holes in the roof in order to save them.This is also another very tragic scene to watch when people die in their own homes.I would love to save someone in this situation but i also would hate to see them in so much pain.
      In the levels the water rises higher every time because when hurricane Katrina happened the water levels rose up each day.The game is very much like the real life situation because they made the game exactly how the real life disaster happened.Everything that happened in New Orleans has occurred in thus game.The only thing that they did not happen in this game was when the people in New Orleans had to evacuate and they went to the super dome.
      Playing this game did inspire me to learn more and i really want to research this topic for a later project or something if i could i would drive to New Orleans and give them as much food and clothing as i possibly could.This game inspired me because it was very interesting and i do not know what else i can say besides that it was a very bad situation.I want to help these people because i saw how a lot of people reacted during this event and they were all sad or crying and some adults did not even know where their kids were at or weather they were dead or alive and i want to help because if my sister got hurt or something i would do anything to help her out.

Darfur is Dying

          From playing this game I learned that Darfur is a very poor place inside of the country Sudan.They are a very ill country and they can't afford to have water in their houses like everyone else does and i personally think that is not fair.I know if they had water in their houses they would be very proud and very thankful.When the janjaweed attack they suffer from injured people to deaths.
         Their are differences in the characters because the smaller they are the faster they run but they don't fill up the bucket all the way its only like half way and the mom runs very slow but she fills up the bucket.I think the game designers made the characters have different abilities so we can see how hard it is to live their life.It tells us a lot about what is happening in real life because it is a real life situation were you have to run and go get water without getting caught by the janjaweed.
         I think in real life they do have to maintain the camp and it was not just for fun because people are actually doing this stuff rite now.If we went to Darfur we would not like it because we all drink water everyday and we would not even live a week in Darfur.
         I think they want us to share it with facebook and write letters is so we can show people how easy it is to live our lives and they have to run miles to get a bucket of water and we just go anywhere and there is water.I would like to share it with all of my friends and better yet the whole wide world.Nobody knows how its like to live their lifesexept themselves.

Steve Jobs was the inventor of apple and pixar.If it wasn't for him we would not have the iPhone ,ipod ,ipod nano ,iPhone 4 ,ipad ,and so on.Today i learned that he died of cancer and he was very famous and his family must have been very rich because all of the stuff that he invented.He is an inspiration to me because he is a big part of technology.Whithout him you would not have this.---------->

I want my game genre to be about bullying because that is the genre I did last year and to me it seemed very entertaining and it was an interesting concept to learn about.From my choice of games I learned never to give up and keep trying until you accieve.The game feature that stood out to me the most was in the game Treadsylvania because they did not stop trying to defeat the monsters and they kept going until their town was saved and I liked it because it gave clues along the way and told you what to do.Some questions I have about the game genre I want to explore is "Do a lot of people explore this game topic?Why or why not?"

least effective

I think the least effective game was house fixers 2 because when you get an answer wrong it lets you keep playing until you get it right.The game topic that this game explores is math but I don't think kids are learning from it because it  doesn't tell you what answer is correct and they don't explain it to you.In my opinion I don't think you can learn too much information because it just moves on to the next level and doesn't explain anything to you.the genre is math and I think it is a good topic for the game but then again you aren't learning as much from the game as you should be.It is not clear what you have to do because it doesn't tell you what to do on each level.I think for improvement they should add fun facts about the skills that the game is trying to teach or after every level try to explain it.

most effective

The name of the game that taught me the most i think was Ayiti: The Cost of Life .The social issue that this game teaches is survival.I think this taught me the most because it was a lesson about survival and it was challenging for most part and you had to earn money to do certain things in the game and I really liked this game.I think you can learn about survival in this game.This game does illustrate the issue or learning concept because it tells you clearly what to do and what not to do.This game does work well and it is related to real life situations.In my opinion i like the game the way it is and i think is doesn't need any improvement.If it was me i would make the game more colorful and more understanding so it can catch the kids attention.I would like to learn how people in the old time learned and how to farm and how they used transportation instead of walking for a very long distance.

Be the Change

On saturday when we helped be the change for service learning I was proud of myself but mostly my peers because I couldnt have done the work without them.For service learning I would like to go around the neighborhood and paint over graffitti that people have done.On saturday we put mulch into wheelbarrals and went to every tree in the park and made a bowl like border surrounding the tree so when it rain the mulch can hold the water around the tree.When we got to the park they told us that they planted over five hundred trees and so we made borders for five hundred trees so in my opinion we did a lot of work and im very proud of myself and they took a lot of pictures while we were doing work.To me personally I think the adults were proud of us too and the whole community was very thankful that we did that for their trees.I think we should do that to one of our parks someday.

mini game

When we first started to make our minigame i think it was a little challenging and in my opinion it was very hard.In my opinion the best part of this topic was when we had to draw in flash because i love to draw.the worst part of this topic was when Ms.Valdez did not want to help us do the work in flash.She told us that she rather us get a good grade and the pride that we did it by ourself than for her to help us and we get a really good grade.My game was really cool because i made it challenging and it is very fun to play because i got done with my work and i was playing it for half the time that we were in class.This game was difficult but i got a hang of it and now all of my files are uploaded to my wiki and i am very proud of myself.This can be a very easy assignment if you just believe in yourself.I wanted to give up a lot of times but i pushed myself to keep working so DONT GIVE UP!!!!!!=)

Children Of Heaven

      This movie was about a mom and a dad with 3 kids.This is a very poor family because the mom was ill and the dad did not want the mom to worry about working so he broke the sugar for the festival.Ali which is the son,lost his little sisters shoes and he tried to look for them but a little girl bought them and that little girl had good grades so her dad bought her a new pair of shoes so her mom threw out the old ones because they didn't need them anymore.Ali let his little sister wear his shoes to school and when she gets out of school she gives the shoes back to her brother and he runs to school.Ali has good grades in school and as a reward for that they give him a pen and Ali gives it to his little sister.One day when his sister is running home she drops the pen that her brother let her have.The other little girl picks up the pen and runs after her but she lost her.The little girl waits till the next day and gives the other girl back the pen.the dad and Ali go looking for jobs to make easy money.It turns out that the rich people were not looking for work to be done around their house.Then they come across a really big house and they do all the work needed while Ali played with the little boy that lived at the house.At that house they make alot of money.Ali tells his dad to buy his sister a brand new pair of shoes.Ali enters a race and tries to get in third place so he can win a pair of shoes.Instead,he wins in first place.
     This family kind of fit my single story but in other words it kind of didn't.The girls did wrap some kid of cloth around their head and they did have religious festivals and the family was very poor but
religious.the family was very poor and the mom was ill and i thought they would talk about hating Americans the whole time but they didn't.

what happened

I think in nine eleven everyone was shocked because when the airplanes crashed the twin towers it was a tragedy to everyone in new york especially the peoples families that worked inside the building.Nearly three thousand people died in one building and all the people that died were innocent and they did not deserve to die but the people that high jacked the plane did deserve to die because they shouldn't have done what they did.Osama Bin Laden hates the united states and he sent the guys to high jack the plane   and that is why Obama sent the military forces to kill that hatred man.The twin towers did not deserve to fall and a lot of people lost their jobs because i think 25,000 worked inside of the twin towers.

danger of a single story

                                                       SINGLE STORY
In my opinion to have a single story about a place or community means to have an idea about something that is encouraged or not encouraged to do.A single story that is happening in my community is when their is a group of teenagers outside and a kid goes and they make that kid go inside or leave them alone and they push the little kid around.People can learn more about this community by driving around town and observing what they see and record data.A lot of people tell a Mexican how come you don't speak spanish if your Mexican.Not all Mexicans speak spanish.Another stereotype is that only boys play football or only girl do cheer leading "THAT'S NOT TRUE."A couple of years back this guy went up to my dad and started talking to him in english and at the time my dad didn't know english so i told the guy that my dad only spoke spanish and the guy said why isn't he in Mexico if he only knows spanish.I went to school one day and we had a guest speaker and they asked everyone if they knew spanish and i didn't raise my hand because i didn't know spanish at the time and all of my friends kept on telling me "how come you don't know spanish if your Mexican that's so dumb."In my game my idea is that we can create a character and make him Mexican and an African American best friends and when they go to the store and everyone sees them together they start whispering to each other saying "why are those two people together."Then we make another scene where they go home and talk to each other saying that a lot of people at the store were being racist.

cyberbully

This past week i have learned about many important things but cyberbullying is the most important.We learned that you cant just bully someone in physical ways u can also hurt them on the Internet by posting mean comments about them or posting their secrets online.I personally have never bullied or been bullied but i have witnessed a person being bullied.I did not want to say anyhting because i didn't want to get involved in other peoples business and problems.A big thing you can do to prevent being bullied on the Internet is just delete your account or profile.The characters in the movie could have just reported the person to the web master or told a trusted adult to help them out.When you are being bullied online and everyone from school sees it people also start bullying you at school and it sometimes gets to the point of suicide which means that they might want to kill themselves because of what people are saying about that person and they cant stand it anymore and they will no longer stand it.Cyberbullying is getting very serious their has been a lot of suicides happening all over the news about why and how the kids especially teenagers are killing themselves over some fake person that was just pretending to be their friend but really wasn't.My Best friends cousin was being cyberbullied and she didn't know what do do so she told her mom and dad and together they told the web master and about one or two hours later they send her a notification that his profile has been deleted.I think the Megan Meier Foundation has made a big difference in the world today.Their has been reports all over the news and all over t.v that teenagers have been killing themselves and the Megan Meier Foundation is trying to prevent those kind of things that are happening.

First Week of School

The first week of school was very.We didn't do a lot of stuff on the first week but we did get a lot of papers that needed to be signed.I was not as nervous as i was last year because last year i did not know anyone that was at the school and i made a lot of friends so i knew i was gonna make a lot of friends this year.I was exited because i wanted to meet new kids and teachers.So far i like most of my classmates but some of them talk a lot and it gets annoying.I have liked all the teachers so far because they have all been fun.All of my classes have been interesting.This year i am looking forward to learning a lot more stuff than i did last year and i also want to make more friends.I'm not nervous about anything but i am scared that I'm going to get a referral but i will try my best not too because i want to go on any upcoming field trips.

We started reading The Lightning Thief yesterday and it was really cool.We read one chapter and it was called (i accedentally vaporized my pre-algebra teacher).The school went on a field trip to a museum where they had a lot of Roman stuff and different things like that.Percy Jackson wich is the main character got in trouble because Nancy was being a little brat and the teacher thinks she is a little princess and she never gets in trouble because she is the teachers favorite student.Percey Jackson got in trouble because they thought he pushed her and his friend Grover tried to to take the blame.

favorite field trip

I WENT TO A FIELD TRIP TO CORPUS CHRISTI.I HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE SO IT WAS AMAZING.WE STAYED IN CABINS FOR THREE NIGHTS AND FOUR DAYS.WHEN WE GOT THEIR THE CAFATERIA WAS CLOSED SO WE HAD TO GET BACK ON THE BUS AND HALF OF US WENT TO DAIRY QUEEN AND THE OTHER HALF WENT TO WHATABURGER.IT WAS SOO COOL.THEN BEFORE WE WENT TO CORPUS CHRISTI WE WENT TO AN AQUARIUM WHERE WE SAW A DOLPHIN SHOW AND WE GOT TO HOLD ALL KIND OF SEA ANIMALS.IT WAS THE COOLEST FOUR DAYS OF MY LIFE.I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING THAT COOL IN MY LIFE .................SO FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
